Michael Polth
Michael Polth (* 1962 ) is a German music theorist and university professor .
Live and act
Michael Polth studied musicology , philosophy and classical philology in Bonn and Berlin (TU) as well as music theory in Berlin ( Universität der Künste Berlin , formerly Hochschule der Künste Berlin) and received his doctorate in 1997 with a thesis on symphony expositions of the 18th century .
Polth has been professor of music theory at the State University for Music and Performing Arts Mannheim since 2002 .
He has presented numerous publications, mainly on questions of music theory . From 2000 to 2004 he was President of the Society for Music Theory (GMTH). 2008–2015 he was co-editor of the magazine of the Society for Music Theory (ZGMTH).
