Michael Rockenschaub (born December 16, 1954 in Schärding ) was chairman of the board of the Sparkasse Oberösterreich . Rockenschaub retired at the end of 2019. Stefanie Christina Huber took over the chairmanship of Sparkasse Upper Austria on January 1, 2020.

education and profession

Rockenschaub attended elementary school in Schärding between 1961 and 1965 and then graduated from the general secondary school in Schärding from 1965 to 1973. He passed his Matura in 1973 in Schärding and then did military service between 1973 and 1974. In 1980 Rockenschaub was promoted to first lieutenant in the reserve. After his military service, Rockenschaub studied commercial science at the Vienna University of Economics and Business , where he completed his basic studies in 1978 with the academic degree Mag. Rer soc. oec. completed. 1981 doctorate , he also Doctor of Social and Economic Sciences (Dr. rer. Soc. Oec.).

After Rockenschaub had worked as an employee in the art and antiques trade from 1980 to 1983, he joined the Allgemeine Sparkasse Oberösterreich in Linz in 1983 . He rose to head of department in 1990. In 1992 he was granted power of attorney. In 2004 Rockenschaub was appointed to the board of the Sparkasse Oberösterreich. Since 2005 he has also been a member of the management board of the Allgemeine Sparkasse. In 2014 he was appointed chairman of the institute's board of directors, and since July 1, 2016, Rockenschaub has been director general.

Politics and functions

Between 1977 and 1979 Rockenschaub was active as chairman of the Ring of Freedom Students (RFS). He was also a member of the Central Committee of the Austrian Students' Union from 1977 to 1980 . On October 30, 1991, he became a member of the Austrian Federal Council as a representative of the FPÖ Upper Austria and was a member of the finance and economic committee there until November 2, 1997. Within the party, Rockenschaub was active as a member of the regional party executive of the FPÖ Upper Austria from 1992 and acted as city party chairman of the FPÖ Linz from 1993 to 1994. He has not held any political functions since 1997 and is no longer part of any party.
