Michael Rosenberger (theologian)

Michael Rosenberger (born March 8, 1962 in Würzburg ) is a Roman Catholic priest and moral theologian . He is the prorector of the Catholic Private University Linz .

Life

Michael Rosenberger studied theology in Würzburg and Rome and was ordained a priest in 1987 . In 1995 he received his doctorate from the University of Würzburg, and in 1999 he completed his habilitation in moral theology. Since the academic year 2002/2003 he has held the chair for moral theology at the KTU Linz. In 2004 he was appointed to the genetic engineering commission of the Ministry of Health and in the same year he was appointed environmental spokesman for the Diocese of Linz .

Research priorities

Michael Rosenberger's research focuses on creation ethics and creation spirituality , determinism and free will, as well as neuroscience and spiritual theology .

In the context of the ethics of creation, Rosenberger examines basic attitudes and attitudes such as humility , awe , empathy and willingness to forego their specific religious potential in order to present a normative overall concept for a believing approach to creation in perception and action. In this context, media attention has attracted his opinion that the use of snow cannons can also be “sinful” under certain circumstances.
