Michael Rubin

Michael Allan Rubin (* 1971 in Philadelphia ) is an American expert on the Middle East , university professor, author, journalist, military advisor and former employee of the United States Department of Defense .

Life

Rubin received his bachelor's degree in biology in 1994 and his PhD in history from Yale University in 1999 . Rubin lived in Iran for some time and before the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 , he also spent time with the Taliban . He is currently a member of the American Enterprise Institute think tank and is a writer and editor for the Middle East Quarterly magazine. He has also previously taught history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem , Yale University and three universities in Northern Iraq. For the US military he advises officers who are dispatched to Iraq or Afghanistan .
