Michael S. Sherwin

Michael S. Sherwin OP (* 1963 ) is a Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

He received BA Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology 1986 (Philosophy), M.Div. Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology 1991, MA Graduate Theological Union 1991 (Theology) with the master's thesis Charity as Friendship in the Promotion of the Common Good in the Thought of St. Thomas Aquinas , MA University of Notre Dame 1997 (moral theology) and the Ph .D. University of Notre Dame 2001 (moral theology) with the dissertation 'By Knowledge and By Love,' Charity's Relationship to Knowledge in the Theology of Thomas Aquinas and Its Implications for Charity's Status as a Virtue with Jean Porter. He was ordained a priest in 1991. From 2001 to 2002 was Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Theology at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology. Since 2002 he has been professor for fundamental moral theology at the University of Friborg .

He conducts research in the psychology of love, virtue ethics and moral development. In the footsteps of Servais Pinckaers , he tries to read the work of Thomas Aquinas on the basis of his biblical and patristic sources.
