Hans Ulrich Steymans

Hans Ulrich Steyman's OP (born September 23, 1961 in Cologne ) is a Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

In August 1981 he entered the Dominican novitiate in Warburg . From 1981 to 1988 he studied theology in Bonn and Vienna and from 1989 to 2000 ancient Semitic philology and oriental archeology in Vienna. From 1991 to 1994 he was contract assistant at the Institute for Old Testament Biblical Studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna . From 1997 to 2002 he was Provincial of the Dominican Province of St. Albert in southern Germany and Austria . From 2002 to 2004 he was prior of the Dominican Convention in Augsburg . After graduating in 1994 with a doctorate in theology , 2000 with a master's degree in philosophy and in 2003 with his habilitation in Old Testament biblical studies, in 2004 he was appointed professor at the Institute for Old Testament biblical studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna ( Georg Braulik ). In 1995/1996 and 2003 he taught as a visiting professor at the École biblique et archéologique française de Jérusalem . Since 2004 he has been a professor at the University of Friborg .
