Michael Schmidt (born April 6, 1966 ) is a German pool player .

Career

At the German championship in 1991 Schmidt won his first medal with bronze in the 8-ball , and he was fourth in the 14/1 endlessly . In 1992 he was fourth in the 8-ball. At the 1994 DM he reached the final in 8-ball, but lost it to Thomas Engert . In 1996 he won the bronze medal in 14/1 endless. In 1999 he reached the semi-finals of a Euro Tour tournament for the first time at the Russian Open . At the Austrian Open 2001 he only lost in the final against Ralf Souquet . In the same year he also reached the semi-finals at the Finland Open and won bronze in the 8-ball at the German championship . At the Russian Open 2002 he reached the semifinals, as he had done three years earlier.

At the World Pool Masters 2002 Schmidt made it to the quarterfinals, but lost there against the Swede Marcus Chamat 5: 9. In 2003 he finished third at the Netherlands Open. At the 9-Ball World Cup in 2006 , he reached the last 64. This was his greatest success at world championships . A year later he lost both preliminary round games and finished 97th. On the Euro Tour in 2006 he reached the round of 16 in four tournaments. At the German Championship 2011 he was ninth in the 14/1 endless.
