Michael Siebert

Michael Siebert (born February 18, 1950 in Melsungen ) is a German politician and former mayor of Darmstadt.

Michael Siebert was elected mayor of Darmstadt on September 30, 1993 in a secret ballot . Of the 68 city councilors present, 41 voted for Siebert. 27 MPs voted for the opposing candidate Wolfgang Rösch from the CDU . Siebert was the first green mayor of Hesse .

Siebert was mayor of Darmstadt from 1993 to 1996. As a full-time member of the magistrate, he headed Department II.

Department II comprised:

  • the general representation of the mayor
  • nature and environmental protection
  • the environmental impact assessment
  • waste disposal, street cleaning and the vehicle fleet
  • urban planning
  • road, drainage and cycle path planning
  • the energy industry
  • the environmental agency
  • the city planning office
  • the driving and cleaning office

In 1996 his term of office as mayor ended. Then (1999) Siebert moved from the Greens to the OS / 3 parliamentary group. The OS / 3 disbanded a few years later. From 2006 Siebert was the only city councilor of the WASG in the city parliament of Darmstadt. In 2009 he resigned his mandate as WASG city councilor.

Siebert is no longer politically active in Darmstadt.

Michael Siebert is married and lives in Darmstadt-Kranichstein . Today he deals with research into Mediterranean early history based on literature research and travel and publishes the results on his own website homersheimat.de.
