Michael Siebler

Michael Siebler (* 1956 ) is a German journalist and classical archaeologist.

Michael Siebler studied classical archeology . During his studies he took part in various excavations, including in Olympia . A DAAD scholarship enabled him to stay in Athens . In 1984 he received his doctorate with studies on the Augustan Mars Ultor at the University of Mainz . This was followed by a job at the German Archaeological Institute in Damascus . This was followed by a job as an employee at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Mainz.

From 1986 Siebler was an editor in the features section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . Here he was in charge of archaeological topics and the art market. Siebler is also an employee of the magazine Antike Welt . The main focus of his journalistic work is research on Homer , Troy and Heinrich Schliemann . As FAZ editor he supported the dissemination of Manfred Korfmann's research results . Not least in the Troy discussion , Siebler supported Korfmann's point of view. After leaving the FAZ, he worked for the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, where he now heads the historical archive.
