Michael Sunday

Michael Sonntag (born December 2, 1978 in Lichtenstein / Sa. ) Is a German author, artist, and cultural and literary scholar; he mainly writes minimalist short stories in which he parodies classic motifs.

Life

Michael Sonntag has lived in Hohenstein-Ernstthal since 1980 . His first short stories and poems were published in various magazines in 2002. In the same year he gave his first reading at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig. In 2004 he published together with Isolde Kakoschky and "Diamond of Tears" of poems When the time has wings ... . In 2005 he wrote the script for the short film The World Beneath - The Other View of Things by Andreas Tröger. The first completely own book by him followed in 2006 with the publisher " Edition PaperONE " under the title Rapunzel - Vampirgeschichten the first part of his "fairy tale trilogy", which he continued with Little Red Riding Hood and other horror stories and MacBeth - everyday and fairytale stories .

After his contract was terminated in 2009, he founded "Edition Lepidoptera" in early 2012, which belongs to the publishing house " Periplaneta ". In this one published his own book Once Upon a Time ... as well as works by other authors. In addition to his literary work, Sonntag runs the exhibition series “Art in the Ruins” in Hohenstein-Ernstthal , which he founded in 2007. This project was originally conceived to promote young and underground artists, but since 2011 it has also been used for exhibitions by internationally known artists. In 2013 he initiated the exhibition concept “Empty Gallery”, in which an art gallery is opened without an exhibition or program and visitors can spontaneously exhibit works or create a program.

Since 2007 he has also exhibited his own work in the fields of nude photography, glass engraving, wrestling photography and experimental painting in various galleries and institutions. In 2017 he founded the EBM band STAUBTANZ together with an artist from Chemnitz. In 2018 he won third place in the "Fantasy" category in the "Weltentor" competition from Noel Verlag. In the same year he founded his new publishing edition "Edition Nachtfalter" in the Torsten Low publishing house. In 2019 he won third place in the "Mystery" category of the "Weltentor" competition and published an article on the history of erotica in the GDR in the third volume of the "Nackedei" book series.
