Michael Stürner

Michael Stürner (* 1975 in Stuttgart ) is a German lawyer and professor at the University of Konstanz .

Life

Stürner studied from 1994 to 1999 law at the universities of Würzburg , Geneva and Munich . In 2000 he acquired the title Magister Juris at Lincoln College of the University of Oxford . Two years later, during his legal clerkship, he did his doctorate with Dagmar Coester-Waltjen in Munich with a comparative legal thesis in civil procedural law. After passing the second state examination, Stürner initially worked as a lawyer in Munich and Cologne from 2004 to 2006 before devoting himself entirely to his academic career. He had been a research assistant to Heinz-Peter Mansel since 2004in Cologne . There he completed his habilitation in 2009 and acquired the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, civil procedural law, international private law, comparative law and European private law.

In the summer semester 2009, Stürner took over a professorship at the LMU Munich, before he accepted a professorship for civil law, international private law and comparative law at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) in the winter semester 2009/10 . He stayed there until 2012, when he accepted an offer from the University of Konstanz to the chair for civil law, international private and procedural law and comparative law, which he has held since then. Since 2013 he has also been a judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court .

Michael Stürner is also co-editor of JURA and the journal for private law of the European Union (GPR) .
