Michael Suttnig (born November 8, 1973 in Klagenfurt ) is an Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper and official.

Career as a player

Michael Suttnig comes from the offspring of the Klagenfurt AC , for whom he played in the senior team from 1990 to 1994. From 1994 to 1998 he moved to EC Graz , before playing again with Klagenfurt AC from 1998 to 2003, where he was Austrian champion several times . In 2003 he moved to EC Salzburg , for which he also played in the 2nd team in 2004/05. During the 2004/05 season he moved to EK Zell am See , where he ended his playing career in 2007.

Internationally, he played in the Austrian ice hockey team at the Winter Olympics in 2002 and at the World Ice Hockey Championships in the B World Cup 1992 and the A-WM 1993 bis 2003 .

Further career

After the end of his playing career, Michael Suttnig studied economics and law at the University of Klagenfurt and received his doctorate in 2011. In 2008, the Austrian ice hockey association implemented a concept he helped to develop for a special ice hockey goalkeeper camp. At first he worked in the private sector but was also active in sports journalism, where he wrote about the KAC. He was also a co-author of the book My Child in Sport . From the 2011/12 season he also took on the role of goalkeeper coach in the U18 youth national team. From the summer of 2014, he took on the position of head of the EBYSL - the junior division of the Austrian ice hockey league - called Erste Bank Liga, as a full-time position .
