plant

In his figurative, mostly medium-sized paintings, Michael Waitz designs a world, the basic ingredients of which are current processes and more general relationships of the surrounding circumstances. In the painterly experiment, the important elements of which are the ironic and sometimes the grotesque, Michael Waitz develops his own quintessence of the world. It is less committed to surrealism than to the tragic-grotesque hyperrealism of Hieronymus Bosch and the political-tragic sarcasm of Francisco de Goya and George Grosz . In the drawings, and especially in the series that have been created using the medium of etching since 1994 , the grotesque and sarcastic also come close to caricatures.

Exhibitions and collections

Works by Michael Waitz have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries, institutions and at art fairs in Germany and abroad and are represented in important private and public collections.
