Michael Weingarten

Michael Weingarten (* 1954 ) is a German philosopher and university professor.

life and work

After studying philosophy, literary studies, politics and sociology in Marburg and Frankfurt / Main, he obtained a doctorate in philosophy on the basic problems of evolutionary theory in 1989. Since 1989 he has been a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Marburg . From 1980 to 1999 he worked in the critical evolution theory group at the Senckenberg Research Institute . In 2002 he was scientific director of the theory laboratory at the University of Jena . He is currently a lecturer for the Ethical-Philosophical Basic Studies (EPG) as part of the teaching degree in Baden-Württemberg at the University of Stuttgart, from 2004 to 2008 he was also a substitute professor at the University of Stuttgart , and since 2007 he has been honorary professor at the University of Marburg .

His work focuses on the theory of science and the history of science in the biosciences, hermeneutics and social philosophy.

Michael Weingarten is a member of the Die Linke party .
