Michaela Gläser-Zikuda

Michaela Gläser-Zikuda (* 1967 ) is a German educational scientist and university professor at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg .

Life

Michaela Gläser-Zikuda studied from 1988 educational science, educational psychology as well as chemistry and German as subjects at the University of Stuttgart and the universities of education in Ludwigsburg and Schwäbisch Gmünd . In 1992 she passed her first state examination and in 1995 she obtained a diploma in educational science / school pedagogy. After passing the second state examination in 1997, she worked for two years at primary and secondary schools in Stuttgart and did her doctorate in 2000 on the subject of "Emotions and learning strategies in schools" with Philipp AE Mayring . After research stays at the universities of Charlotte , Oulu and Bern , Michaela Gläser-Zikuda completed her habilitation in 2007 at the University of Education in Ludwigsburg and received the venia legendi for educational science with a focus on school education and teaching research.

After a substitute for a professorship at the University of Freiburg , she accepted an offer from the University of Jena to the Chair of School Education and Didactics in March 2008 and refused simultaneous appointments to the Universities of Freiburg, Cologne and Leipzig. She was director of the Institute for Educational Science at the University of Jena and a member of the Center for Teacher Education. In 2013, she turned down an offer for the W3 professorship for educational science with a focus on school development and school research as head of the academic institution of the Oberstufenkolleg at Bielefeld University. In 2014, Gläser-Zikuda accepted the chair for school pedagogy with a focus on empirical teaching research at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , which she has held since then. She is a member of the collegial management of the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Teaching and Learning at FAU (ZiLL) and the Competence Center for School Development and Evaluation (KSE). In April 2018 she was elected a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

Michaela Gläser-Zikuda is, together with Philipp Mayring (University of Klagenfurt) and Günter L. Huber (University of Tübingen), a founding member of the Special Interest Group "Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches to Learning and Instruction" of the European Association of Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) and was also their coordinator. She is also a founding member of the Society for Empirical Educational Research (GEBF). She is also a member of the editorial board of the yearbook for general didactics and the scientific advisory board of the journal Empirische Pädagogik. She is a reviewer for various national and international journals as well as an ad hoc reviewer, e.g. B. for the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture Austria, the BMBF, the Czech Science Foundation, the DFG and the Swiss National Fund.

Research and Works

Michaela Gläser-Zikuda conducts research on various topics in school pedagogy with a special focus on empirical teaching-learning research, focusing in particular on learning strategies, self-regulation, emotions and well-being as well as the development and implementation of innovative teaching-learning environments in schools and universities. She is also dedicated to the professionalization of teachers as well as school and teaching development. Another focus of work is social science research methods, in particular qualitative content analysis and mixed methods. Central publications are:
