Philipp AE Mayring

Philipp AE Mayring (born June 7, 1952 in Munich ) is a German psychologist , sociologist and educator and co-founder of qualitative content analysis .

From 2002 until his retirement in 2017 he was professor for psychological methodology at the University of Klagenfurt . He was head of the department for applied psychology and method research , for several years head of the institute for psychology and head of the center for evaluation and research advice at the institute for psychology. Mayring has an h-index of 30.

Career

Philipp Mayring studied psychology , pedagogy and sociology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the University of Augsburg . a. at Heiner Keupp . After receiving his doctorate in psychology with Dieter Ulich at the University of Augsburg in 1985 and habilitation there in 1990, he was initially a research assistant at the University of Munich, then an academic and senior counselor at the University of Augsburg. From 1993 to 2002 he was Professor of Educational Psychology at the Ludwigsburg University of Education , where he was elected Vice Dean and Vice Rector for Research. Since 2002 he has been professor for psychological methodology at the University of Klagenfurt and head of the department for applied psychology and method research. As a visiting professor for qualitative methods, he also taught at the Universities of Klagenfurt, Vienna and Freiburg / Switzerland.

His research focuses on questions of evaluation in the health sector (Province of Carinthia, Fonds Gesundes Österreich ), the connection between water and health (Competence Network Water Resources), curriculum evaluation (University of Klagenfurt), e-learning (GELSE initiative of the University) and method research (Qualitative content analysis; Mixed Methodology). He worked as a reviewer for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Science, with a focus on nursing research , for the Swiss National Fund , for the anniversary fund of the Austrian National Bank and for the German Leibniz Society (system evaluations).
