The Ludwigsburg University of Education is a university on an equal footing with the universities and has the right to award doctorates and habilitation in Ludwigsburg . The range of courses includes bachelor's degree programs for teaching ( elementary schools , secondary level I teaching ( technical , secondary , secondary and community schools ), special education teaching ), extra-curricular bachelor ’s degree programs ( cultural and media education, early childhood education and upbringing, educational science ) and master’s degree ( vocational Education , educational research , educational management , adult education , early childhood education and upbringing, international education management, cultural education, cultural studies and management , special education).
It is one of six universities of teacher education in Baden-Württemberg . In addition to the main location in Ludwigsburg with faculties I and II, the PH Ludwigsburg also had a branch in Reutlingen with faculty III for special education , which was closed in the 2015/2016 winter semester and moved to the campus in Ludwigsburg.
history
The Ludwigsburg University of Education is the successor to the Stuttgart Institute of Education , which opened in 1946 and was promoted to a university of education in 1962 and moved to the new building in Ludwigsburg in 1966. Of all six universities of education in the state of Baden-Württemberg, the PH Ludwigsburg has the most populous catchment area . When the Reutlingen University of Education was dissolved in 1987, its special education department was retained as a branch of the PH Ludwigsburg. From October 1, 2015, the Faculty for Special Education will also be located in Ludwigsburg.
Since the amendment of the university laws in 1995, the university has not only had the right to award doctorates (Dr. paed. And Dr. phil.), Which it has exercised for a long time, but also the independent right to habilitation .
Faculties
There are three faculties:
- Faculty I: Education and social sciences with the institutes for educational management, educational science , psychology, social sciences as well as for philosophy and theology
- Faculty II: Cultural and Natural Sciences with the Institutes for Cultural Management ; Art, music and sports; for mathematics and computer science; Natural sciences and technology as well as languages .
- Faculty III: Special Education with the institutes for general special education as well as for special education priorities.
