Michaela Marksová-Tominová (born March 20, 1969 in Prague ) is a Czech politician of the Social Democratic Party ( ČSSD ) and was Minister for Labor and Social Affairs in the Bohuslav Sobotka government from January 2014 to December 2017 .

Life

Michaela Marksová, née Tominová, studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Charles University . From 1997-2004 Marksová worked as a director at Gender Studies sro , a counseling and education center dealing with issues in the field of relationships between men and women and their position in society.

From 2004–2006, Marksová headed the family policy department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. From April 2009 to September 2010 she headed the Equal Opportunities Department in the Ministry of Education. On January 29, 2014, she was sworn in as minister.

She has been a councilor for the Prague 2 district since 2006 .
