Jana Maláčová (born June 23, 1981 in Uherské Hradiště ) is a Czech civil servant and politician. She has been Minister of Social Affairs of the Czech Republic since July 2018.

Life

After attending the commercial academy in her native Uherské Hradiště, Maláčová studied political science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 2002 to 2007 . From 2014 to 2016 she studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science . Since 2008 she has been a member of the social democratic party ČSSD .

After a position at the Ministry of Regional Development, Maláčová was the representative of the Czech Senate at the European Parliament from 2012–2014 . In 2015 Maláčová started working as a department head in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. After Minister Petr Krčál resigned a few days after taking office due to allegations of plagiarism, Maláčová was sworn in as the new Labor and Social Affairs Minister for the Social Democrats in the Babiš II cabinet on July 30, 2018 .
