Michaeliburg
Michaeliburg is a settlement in Munich .
location
The settlement is located in the south of the city district 15 ( Trudering-Riem ). To the south of the settlement, already in the Perlach district (Munich) , are the Ostpark (Munich) and the Michaelibad .
history
The Michaeliburg settlement was built at the beginning of the 20th century as the first extension from Trudering to the south. It was partly on Perlacher , partly on Truderinger municipality and was incorporated into Munich on January 1, 1930 and April 1, 1932 .
The settlement was named after Michael Obermeyer, who had built an inn here in 1898, which, due to its historicizing towers, had a castle-like character and was therefore called Michaeliburg .
Buildings
Residential houses are being built on the property of the Michaeliburg building, which gives the settlement its name . The applications submitted for demolition and rebuilding were approved, and in summer 2009 the Michaeliburg was demolished.
A chapel has existed in the settlement since 1900, which is dedicated to St. Michael and is called "Michaelikapelle". Once a year, on the day of national mourning , the associations in the area meet and commemorate the victims of the two world wars and all other wars since then.
