Michaels Church (Heiligenfelde)
The Michaels-Kirche Heiligenfelde is a Protestant church in the district of Heiligenfelde in the Lower Saxon town of Syke in the district of Diepholz . It is named after the Archangel Michael .
description
The vaulted hall church from late Romanesque to early Gothic has a rectangular choir and a mighty west tower. The choir and nave were probably built from fieldstone at the beginning of the 13th century . Around the years 1270/80 the vaulting and the extension in brick took place . The choir gable has a hint of a pointed arched three-window group and above it two pointed arches. The tower is also made of brick; He has Romanesque biforias as sound openings and wears a tall pyramid helmet that is crooked. Apart from the choir gable , the nave is plastered , and the windows on the side walls were greatly enlarged during the Baroque period . Like many churches in the region, the building was stabilized in modern times by somewhat clumsy buttresses .
