Mikhail Grigoryevich Sergeyev

Mikhail Grigorjewitsch Sergejew ( Russian Михаил Григорьевич Сергеев ; * 1903 , † 1993 ) was a Soviet diplomat . He was ambassador to Belgium , Luxembourg , Argentina and Greece .

Life

In 1936 Sergeyev entered the service of the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union. From 1936 to 1939 he was the Soviet consul general in Milan . From 1939 to June 3, 1941 he was - as first secretary - agent of the Soviet mission in Greece . From 1943 to March 1945 he headed the First European Department in the People's Commissariat for Foreign Affairs. From March 1945 to July 1947 Sergejew was extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the USSR in Brussels , between November 1945 and July 1947 he was second accredited in Luxembourg . From July 1947 to June 1948 he was the Soviet ambassador in Buenos Aires . From 1948 to 1950 he worked as deputy head, from 1950 to July 1953 as head of the First European Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. From July 1953 to January 1962 he was the USSR Ambassador in Athens .

Sergejew was a member of the CPSU and spoke fluent modern Greek , among other things .
