Michal Heiman

Michal Heiman (* 1954 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli media artist .

Heiman studied photography from 1977 to 1979 at Hadassah College in Jerusalem and from 1982 to 1984 painting and sculpture at the Art Teachers Training College in Ramat Hasharon . From 1991 to 1993 Michal Heiman was a curator at the Camera Obscura Gallery in Tel Aviv. She teaches at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University .

Michal Heiman works in an interdisciplinary manner in the areas of installation , painting , photography and video . Her work is often based on extensive research in the fields of psychology and philosophy and focuses on the topics of psychoanalysis , clinical research , art history, politics and gender discussion .

She exhibits internationally, including in 1997 the work Michal Heiman Test No. 1 (MHT) at the documenta X in Kassel. Heiman received a scholarship from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation from 1989 to 1990 and the Shpilman Prize for Photography in 2011 .
