Ramat Hasharon ( Hebrew רמת השרון, Arabic رامات هشارون, German  hill of Sharon ) is a city in Israel , about 16 kilometers northeast of Tel Aviv .

The Jad LaBanim (Memory of the Sons) building in Ramat Hasharon is a memorial for the city's fallen soldiers and also houses the city library.

On October 4, 1923, Ramat Hasharon was founded as Ir Shalom (Hebrew עִיר שָׁלוֹם, City of Peace). The founders of the moshawa were Olim (immigrants) from Poland. In 1931 Ramat Hasharon had 312 inhabitants, around 900 in 1950. The name was changed to Ramat HaScharon in 1932.

As a result of the rapid population growth in the 1960s and 1970s, numerous new streets, schools and parks were built, and new neighborhoods emerged. In the 1980s, many upper-middle-class families moved to Ramat Hasharon, which was considered safe and had many gardens and avenues.

In 2002 Ramat Hasharon received city status. In 2018 the population was 46,720.

Most of the city is north of Highway 5, east of Highway 20 and Kibbutz Glil Yam, west of Israel Military Industries headquarters and Highway 4, and south of Herzliya . The administrative area extends beyond that, south of Highway 5, it borders the Kiryat Shaul Cemetery and Tel Aviv-Jaffa .

Until the 1960s, the place was mainly agricultural, known for its strawberry fields and citrus groves. The headquarters of the arms companies IMI Systems and Israel Weapon Industries are located in the city .

The city's soccer club, Hapoel Ironi HaScharon , currently plays in the highest Israeli league, the Ligat ha'Al .

In addition, Ramat hascharon is known for his high affinity for tennis . Since the mid-1970s, all home games of the Israeli Davis Cup team have been played in the Canada Stadium . Between 1979 and 1996 the ATP World Tour also made a guest appearance once a year . The tournament in Ramat Hasharon has had Challenger status since 1996 .
