Israel has six districts , in Hebrew מחוזות, Mechozot ( Sg. Machoz ), and 15 sub-districts ,נפות, nafot (Sg. nafa ), which are divided into a total of fifty natural regions .

Jerusalem District

District Name: Jerusalem ( Hebrew מחוז ירושלים Mechoz Yeruzhalayim ).
District capital: Jerusalem
Sub-districts: no further sub-districts

Northern District

District Name: Northern District (Hebrew מחוז הצפון Mechoz haTzafon ).
District capital: Nazareth
Sub-districts:
- Tzefat or Safed
- Kinneret
- Jizre'el
- Akko
- Golan; this sub-district was annexed by Israel in 1981 , but is not recognized by the UN as Israeli territory.

Haifa district

District Name: Haifa (Hebrew מחוז חיפה Mechoz Cheifa ).
District capital: Haifa

Central District

District Name: Central District (Hebrew מחוז המרכז Mechoz haMerkaz ).
District capital: Ramla

- Rechowot

Tel Aviv district

District Name: Tel Aviv (Hebrew מחוז תל אביב Mechoz Tel-Aviv ).

South district
