Michel Deguy
Michel Deguy (born May 25, 1930 in Paris ) is a French poet, essayist, translator and philosopher. He teaches as a professor of French literature at the University of Paris VIII (University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint Denis).
biography
Deguy studied humanities and philosophy. After graduating, he attended lectures by Michel Alexandre and Jean Hyppolite and taught philosophy himself until 1968. From 1990 to 1992 Deguy headed the Collège international de philosophie and from 1992 to 1998 the Maison des écrivains et de la littérature .
In 1998 he received the Grand Prix national de la poésie and in 2004 the Grand Prix de Poésie de l'Académie française; Deguy was also awarded other prizes. Since 1972 he has been the founder and editor-in-chief of Po & Sie and the editor of Les Temps Modernes . Deguy contributed to the development of the Collège international de philosophie , Éditions Gallimard .
In 2020 Deguy was awarded the Prix Goncourt for his poetry .
He is the father of actress Marie-Armelle Deguy .
