Michel Gammenthaler

Michel Gammenthaler (born August 17, 1972 in Zurich ) is a Swiss comedian, presenter and magician . He lives in the canton of Zurich .

Life

Michel Gammenthaler's interest in magic was aroused early on when, at the age of seven, he received a magic box from his parents for his birthday. A few years later, the encounter with the Zurich magician Telsino is formative . From then on, Gammenthaler's career aspiration was clear: a magician. Since his parents insist on a "serious" education, he first completed a commercial apprenticeship in a travel agency after leaving school. Michel Gammenthaler then worked as a journalist, rental company of luxury limousines and coordinator of temporary positions. He also graduated from the Kaltenbach Bar School in Zurich.

The encounter with the Biel magician Christoph Borer , who introduces him to the art and secrets of magic, is groundbreaking. Under his aegis, Michel Gammenthaler can deepen the magic craft in practice and fully devote himself to his dream job. At the end of the nineties, Borer and Gammenthaler presented their first full-length program under the name “ Anam Cara ” (Gaelic for: soulmate) with the title “ Zauberei im Zwischenraum ”, followed by a second production called “ Backstage ”.

Services

After the dissolution of “Anam Cara”, Michel Gammenthaler realized his first full-length solo program in 2003 with the title “ Doppelganger ”. It combines classic magic with theatrical elements with a thoroughly self-ironic note. Encouraged by the great success of his performance, Gammenthaler designed his second program " Reality ". In it he slips into different roles. Gammenthaler reflected his magic on these characters, which the audience soon became fond of.

In his third major solo program, " Zeitraffer ", Gammenthaler combines different elements from comedy, magic, cabaret and acting for the first time and at the same time relates his previously developed characters to one another. Work with figures is completed with « Wahnsinn ». In 2013, Gammenthaler decided to create a fifth program that managed entirely without role-playing games. He celebrates its premiere in February 2014 with “ Scharlatan ”, his fifth full-length piece. In this production he remains completely "himself" and dedicates himself exclusively to his favorite topics. They tell of card games, cheaters, fortune tellers, spiritualists and charlatans . In January 2018 he brought with « Huh ...? »His sixth and so far most personal program on stage.

In "Huh ...?" magic takes a back seat for the first time. The piece is largely shaped and supported by stand-up comedy.

Michel Gammenthaler is one of the well-known representatives of the stand-up comedy scene and cabaret in German-speaking countries.

From March to November 2012 he toured Switzerland with the Knie Circus .
