Michel Hirvy
Michel Hirvy (born as Mischa Hirschowitz ; * October 1900 in Warsaw ; † December 31, 1966 in Montreal ) was a Canadian pianist and music teacher of Polish origin.
Hirvy was Paul Lutzenko's piano student . He attended the Stern Conservatory in Berlin and continued his education in Austria. From 1929 to 1938 he lived in Paris, then in Portugal. In 1941 he emigrated to Montreal.
He produced a series of films with Louta Nouneberg in Paris from 1928–34 and in Montreal from 1951–54, in which he studied the piano technique of pianists such as Wilhelm Backhaus , Alfred Cortot , Glenn Gould , Wladimir Horowitz , Artur Rubinstein , Rudolf Serkin and Rosalyn in slow motion Tureck demonstrated. His piano students in Canada included Edmund Assaly , Albertine Caron-Legris , Neil Chotem , Kenneth Peacock , Nina Townsend , Vic Vogel and Irene Woodburn-Wright .
