Michel Weber

Michel Weber (* 1963 in Brussels ) is a Belgian philosopher who is best known as an interpreter of Alfred North Whitehead and as a representative of process philosophy .

Life

After studying industrial engineering at the Facultés universitaires Saint-Louis in Brussels in 1986, he switched to studying philosophy at the Université catholique de Louvain . After completing his studies in 1991, he began his doctorate there on the anthropic principle and teleology in the philosophy of Aristotle , Thomas Aquinas and Immanuel Kant , which he completed in 1997. During this time he studied from 1993 to 1995 with John B. Cobb and David Ray Griffin at the Center for Process Studies in Claremont . His doctoral thesis dealt with Whitehead's late philosophy.

From 1997 to 2007 Weber worked as a lecturer in philosophy at the Catholic University in Louvain-la-Neuve . During this time he founded a network of activities to promote the process idea in philosophy. This includes a large number of conferences and several series of publications.
