Michele Gallagher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michele Gallagher , more rarely: Michelle Gallagher , (born April 4, 1964 ) is a British actress who gained notoriety beyond the borders of England through her role in the television series Five Friends .

Life

Michele Gallagher embodied the role of George Kirrin (actually: "Georgina Kirrin"), a "girl who would rather be a boy" and in the British television series Five Friends , which was based on the novels by Enid Blyton in the late 1970s solved criminal cases with her friends .

Gallagher received the role of George, among other things, because the German co-producer of the series spoke out in favor of a German child playing one of the leading roles, which was hardly feasible in practice. So they agreed on a compromise: Michele Gallagher, who had German ancestors, got the role. For Michele Gallagher, the television series was her first acting experience.

The television series was particularly successful in Germany, where it entailed several reruns and record series with the series' voice actors. It was always shown on the covers of the radio play production of the Polydor production. The design of the cover of the Europa radio play production at that time was obviously based on the television series and so the drawn figure of George showed a certain resemblance to the actress Michele Gallagher.

After the television series ended, as far as is known, Gallagher stopped working as an actress.

Rumors of her passing

Around May 2006, rumors of the death of Michele Gallagher arose and were discussed in the forum of the Enid Blyton Society . Some forum members tried to investigate these rumors. On November 14, 2006, a participant stated in another forum that Michele Gallagher was partially paralyzed after a motorcycle accident and then allegedly committed suicide around the year 2000. Using ancestry.com , users of the forum under the name Michele Barbara Gallagher found March 2001 as the date of death and thus for the first time an exact date of death was given. As a result, the news spread on the Internet and in various Internet forums there were discussions between fans of the series regarding the rumor of her demise. This news of death was also found on the Internet Movie Database website . However, contrary to previous rumors, the year 2000 was named as the year of death. On April 1, 2010, her death was reported again, this time on an Italian website. 2001 was again given as the year of death.

In the same year, on the occasion of the DVD release of the series, Bild.de wrote about what became of the child stars of the series, and also commented on Michele Gallagher's whereabouts in a few words: “[...] Only about the whereabouts of Michele Gallagher ( George) there are contradicting information [...] "and under a picture of the actress from the series:" [...] There is no current photo of Gallagher, the whereabouts of the actress is unclear [...] ". However, her death was also reported on the German bonus DVD of the DVD release. In the traditional media such as newspapers, radio and television, there was no specific report on Gallagher's death for a very long time. It was not until January 2012 that Bild.de published an interview with Marcus Harris , who was in front of the camera in the role of Julian with Michele Gallagher for the series Five Friends . When asked about her, he is quoted in it with the words "Unfortunately, she died a few years ago." Gail Renard, a screenwriter on the series, wrote in memoirs of the series that went with the English DVD release: “Like George, Michele was strong-willed, rebellious and passionate, and everyone loved her. Sadly, she is no longer with us and is very much missed. "
