Marcus Harris

Marcus Harris (born April 19, 1964 in Middlesex , England ) is a British actor . He became known throughout Europe in the late 1970s for the role of Julian Kirrin from the television series Five Friends .

Life

Marcus Harris' parents were enthusiastic about amateur acting. So it happened that he began his stage career at the age of three. When he was ten, his family moved from Middlesex to Oxfordshire . There he joined the ensemble of the Henley Youth Theater around 1976 and thus acquired his actual acting training.

Soon after, he got a leading role in the television series Five Friends . In the series, he played Julian Kirrin, a boy who shows true leadership skills among his friends . The series was first broadcast between 1978 and 1979. It was particularly successful in Germany and was repeated several times. This success made Harris known across Europe. But after the end of the series there were no attractive acting offers and he returned to his normal life. But he no longer showed any real interest in school and dropped out at the age of 16. Over time, Harris became a successful businessman. He ran a computer software company, ran a chain of sports stores, and eventually owned a consulting firm. He was politically active and in 2006 became the second mayor of his hometown Wallingford .

In 2007 he starred in a documentary for the book The Golden Compass , called Beyond The Golden Compass , Lord Asriel .

At the end of 2008 he was seen in a television special on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Independent Television ( ITV ) in the south of England. Here he met with his colleague Jennifer Thanisch from the series Five Friends and talked about the filming at that time. The special aired on the Meridian Tonight and Thames Valley Tonight news programs.

A year later he starred in several commercials with and in some theater productions, including Puss in Boots ( Puss in Boots ) where he received a ogre showed. In December 2009, Marcus Harris sold his business and has since returned to acting.

The Five Friends Collector's Edition , published in 2010, contains an approx. 80-minute interview with Marcus Harris and voice actor Oliver Rohrbeck (= German voice of Julian from the TV series Five Friends ), in which both from today's point of view (2010) talk about their experiences during the production of the TV series Five Friends in 1978–1979 and the years after that report: Julian meets Julian ( Marcus Harris meets his German voice ).

A cameo by Marcus Harris can be seen in the German film Five Friends , which was released in late January 2012 .

Little is known about Marcus Harris' personal life; he has at least two children.
