Michelsberg (Nittenau)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michelsberg is an eastern part of the Upper Palatinate town of Nittenau in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .

history

The castle of the Michelsberg family, which fell into disrepair at the beginning of the 15th century, no longer remains in ruins. In 1150 Friedrich de monte St. Michaelis is mentioned for the first time in connection with Michelsberg among the servants of Burgrave Heinrich zu Regensburg.

Christian de monte St. Michaelis donated part of his property to the Reichenbach am Regen monastery in 1177 . The Michelsbergers died out here in the male line . The Michelsbergers move to Bodenstein and call themselves von dem Podenstein from the middle of the 14th century . There have been no concrete records of this castle since 1433. The simple, Gothic church could have been the castle chapel. In the choir is the 17th century altar with the image of the church patroness, Maria Immaculata . The predella shows the martyrdom of St. Bartholomew between images of Bodenstein Castle and Michelsberg Castle. Some gravestones from the 17th and 18th centuries indicate the close relationship with Bodenstein Castle.
