Micridium halidaii is a beetle fromthe dwarf beetle family (Ptiliidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 0.5 to 0.6 millimeters. Your body is elongated and slightly arched. It is finely and loosely haired and colored shiny red-yellow. The top of the body is indistinctly structured in a punctiform manner. The pronotum is almost as wide as the wing and rounded on the sides. The elongated egg-shaped wing covers have two dark elongated stripes, which are caused by the translucent second pair of wings below.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in northern and central Europe. The southern limit of distribution runs from France via Switzerland and Austria to Slovakia, Poland to Russia. It is missing in the far north. The animals live in rotting wood and in the sludge of oaks .
