The anosy mouse lemur ( Microcebus tanosi ) is a southern Madagascar living primate species from the kind of mouse lemurs within the group of lemurs . The type locality and so far the only known distribution area of ​​the species only described in 2013 are the heavily deforested Manantantely forest and the less destroyed Ivorona forest in the Anosy region . The specific epithet tanosi is derived from Malagasy and means "from the Anosy region."

Anosy lemurs are among the larger representatives of their genus and reach overall lengths of 25.5 to 27.5 cm, with a tail length of 11.5 to 15 cm and a weight of up to 49 g. The animals have a thick, long, dark brown fur on the back, a red-brown head, a dull beige to dark gray underside and a diffuse, dark stripe on the middle of the back that extends to the base of the tail. The lower hair on the back is dark brown, that on the belly is Van Dyck brown . The tops of the hands and feet are gray, the whiskers dark. The top of the head and ears are antique brown. There is a light spot above the nose, between the eyes. The tail of the specimens from the Manantantely forest is covered with dense, short hair, while those from the Ivorona forest are covered with long hair. The top of the tail is brownish, the underside yellow-brown to olive-colored.

The type specimen has a length of 27.5 cm with a head-torso length of 12.5 cm and a weight of 49 g. The rear foot is 3.3 cm long, the ear 2 cm. The skull is 3.44 cm long, 1.63 cm high and 2.06 cm wide (from cheekbone to cheekbone). The incisors are 2.23 mm high, the molars are 1.8 mm high.
