The Bach Days Berlin was a music festival that took place in Berlin from 1970 to 2000 and was organized by the German Tonkünstlerverband (DTKV). The focus was on the work of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach , who had visited the city several times and whose Brandenburg concerts and musical sacrifices are linked to Berlin. In addition, works by his sons Wilhelm Friedemann Bach , Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Johann Christian Bach , who lived in Berlin for several years, were also performed.

The Bach Days took place in the first week of July and each had a thematic focus. Internationally outstanding ensembles and soloists were engaged for the concerts , and the events were accompanied by lectures . The DTKV coordinated the artistic direction with the Senate Department for Cultural Affairs. Furthermore, they worked together with the Friedenau Chamber Concerts, the State Institute for Music Research , the RIAS Berlin and the Sender Freies Berlin .

The venues concentrated on the Kulturforum in Berlin-Tiergarten . In addition to the Philharmonie and the Chamber Music Hall, the Otto-Braun-Saal of the Berlin State Library , the Musical Instrument Museum and St. Matthew's Church served as performance venues. In addition, events took place in Charlottenburg Palace and in various churches. After the fall of the Wall , a second focus arose on Gendarmenmarkt . It was played in the Schauspielhaus Berlin , in the Apollo Hall of the State Opera Unter den Linden , in the French Friedrichstadtkirche and in the St. Hedwig's Cathedral .

The Bach Days were financed with funds from the Senate Administration, which suspended the event in 2001 due to austerity measures. Other sponsors were the Evangelical Church and private companies.
