Microsoft Office 2019 is based on the 16th major version of the Office suite from software manufacturer Microsoft . It is the official successor to Office 2016 , but is based on the same code and also shares the build numbers with Microsoft 365 and Office 2016. The version was announced on September 6, 2017 at Microsoft Ignite and released on September 24, 2018.

On April 27, 2018, Microsoft published an Office 2019 Commercial Preview for Windows 10 for the first time. On June 12, 2018, Microsoft published a preview for macOS.

New function

The version contains improvements for the products Word , Excel , PowerPoint and Outlook , for macOS also OneNote and for Windows Access , Publisher , Visio and Project .

For Windows, OneNote will be removed from the suite starting with Office 2019. OneNote 2016 can optionally be selected in the Office Installer. The only OneNote app for Windows computers will be the Universal Windows app, which is currently available for Windows 10.

Office 2019 includes all of the features of Office 365 , including improved coloring functions, new animation features in PowerPoint, including morph and zoom functions, and new formulas and charts in Excel for data analysis. For Mac users, focus mode has been added in Word, 2D maps in Excel and new morph transitions, SVG support and 4K video exports in PowerPoint.

Office 2019 runs on Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, and macOS Sierra and higher. However, the Windows version of Office 2019 will not receive 10 years of support like most previous versions. It will get 5 years of mainstream support but only two years of expanded support.

Mainstream support is expected to end on October 10, 2023. B. with security updates is expected to end on October 14, 2025.
