Rental villa Johann Gottfried Böthgen

description

The under monument protection standing rental villa is a two story, almost square residential building on a stone base and a developed, tile-roofed mansard roof . The building stands on the north side of the wide property, so that a larger garden remains free towards the railway to the south.

In the four-axis, symmetrical street view, there is a two-axis central projection , which is closed off at roof level by a curved gable. The gable surface around the twin window there is decorated with baroque hangings that surround a stucco cartouche above the window , while they appear as a festoon below the two window parts . There is a terrace in front of the risalit. From the upper floor emerges a wide French balcony with iron grating, which is as deep as the supporting pillars below.

In the left side view, a stairwell protrudes into which the house entrance leads.

The building is simply plastered. The facades are structured by numerous sandstone elements that surround the windows or also form the main cornice . In addition, the windows on the two main floors are accompanied by folding shutters . The windows on the ground floor ( mezzanine floor ) are arched, those on the upper floor are rectangular.

The enclosure consists of picket fence fields between plaster pillars with cover plates; the fence is set up on a low stone wall.

history

Johann Gottfried Böthgen, building contractor from Radebeul, built a house for himself as “builder, site manager and executor” in 1902, right next to the tracks of the Leipzig – Dresden railway line . The announcement of the completion of the shell is from September 1902, the approval for use was issued in March 1903.

The artist Max Brösel lived at this address with his family from 1913 to 1934 .

During the restoration of the listed building after the fall of the Wall, the original balcony was restored.
