The Migros Türk TAŞ , abbreviated as Migros Turk , the biggest supermarket chain in the Turkey . Originally a subsidiary of Migros Switzerland , Migros Türk has been independent since 1974.

Companies

As in Migros Switzerland, there are M, MM and MMM supermarkets and the logo corresponds to that of the Swiss Migros from the 1980s (apart from the i with a dot to distinguish it from the Turkish ı ).

Migros Türk has 238 M, 185 MM and 61 MMM stores (2011) and offers 35,000 products and has 13,000 employees (2006).

  • Basic food and a small number of non-food products are offered in M Migros stores.
  • In MM Migros stores you can find more food and an expanded range of non-food products.
  • In MMM Migros stores there is a wide range of non-food items such as clothes, electronics, books and cosmetics.
  • 5M Migros are large shopping malls that also house shops and boutiques from other companies under one Migros roof as well as their own floor with (fast) restaurants.

In addition to the sale of branded items, Migros Türk also offers its own brands. Migros Türk offers a club card with which you can benefit from promotions and special price offers. This is used by 7 million consumers. Since 2001 it has been possible to order Migros products online in some cities.

Migros Türk was founded in 1954 as a subsidiary of Migros Switzerland. It became independent of Migros Switzerland in 1974 after it was taken over by the Koç Group, but was allowed to continue to use the name and the Migros characteristics. In 2008, the Koç Group sold Migros in a buyout to the holding company BC Partners ; In 2015 BC Partners sold the company to the Turkish conglomerate Anadolu Endustri .

The former CEO of LeShop.ch , Dominique Locher, has been a member of the Migros Ticaret (Migros Türk) advisory board since 2017 . In 2019, he launched the delivery service app Hemen, which enables the products ordered in the app to be delivered within 30 minutes (by motorcycle).

Subsidiaries of Migros Türk

In October 1997 Migros Türk founded the Ramenka company together with the Enka construction company, which operated a total of 76 stores (2006) in Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria and Macedonia under the Ramstore label . In September 2007 Migros Türk sold its stake in Ramstore in Russia to Enka, so that Enka is now the sole owner of the Ramstore chain in Russia.

The 20 Ramstore stores (2009) in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Macedonia and Kyrgyzstan still belong to Migros Türk.

Şok stores are Migros branches in Turkey that sell everyday products at lower prices. There are 347 shops in Turkey (2006). Tansaş is another supermarket chain with 226 branches. There are also the Migros Toptan wholesale stores for tradespeople, the Migros Sanal Market online shop and the macrocenter luxury shopping centers .
