Miguel Tankamash mom

Miguel Tankamash Mama (born October 29, 1939 in Chiguana ; † October 27, 2018 ) was an indigenous association official from Ecuador . He belongs to the Shuar ethnic group .

Career

He dedicated himself to the defense of his Shuar brothers and the indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin . He saw the organization as an opportunity for this defense. His people are organized and free from unjust capitalist manipulation. In 1964 he became a member of the Federación Shuar , of which he was chairman seven times. During his tenure, he received radio stations for bilingual learning, five Shuar air ambulances, the installation of a refrigerator with a capacity of 2.5 metric tons of meat with support from Germany and a sawmill with support from Italy. He was a founding member of the Federación Interprovincial de Centros Shuar (FICSH), Confederación de Nacionalidades Indígenas de la Amazonía Ecuatoriana (CONFENIAE) and promoted Pachakutik .

On November 16, 1986 he was one of the founders of CONAIE and was elected founding chairman until 1989.
