Miguel Zepeda (born May 25, 1976 in Tepic , Nayarit ) is a former Mexican soccer player who mostly played in the attacking midfield . In the winter of 1997 he was voted the best young player in Mexico .

Life

society

Zepeda began his professional career at Atlas Guadalajara , for whom he chased the round leather between 1995 and 2001. He then moved to the capital club CD Cruz Azul , where he was under contract in the 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons. His other engagements were always short-lived and repeatedly limited to half a season. He last played in the 2010/11 season for the second division club Leones Negros , where he is the undisputed leader.

National team

Zepeda made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on February 10, 1999 in the 0-1 defeat against Argentina. His last international match was on April 27, 2005 when Mexico separated from Poland 1: 1.

The highlight of his international playing career was his participation in the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup , which was held in his own country and in which the Mexican national team celebrated their greatest triumph to date. "El Tri" won the title by beating record world champions Brazil in the final at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City and Zepeda can rightly be called a "match winner" thanks to the two goals he contributed to the 4-3 victory.
