Mihhail Korb (2012)

Mihhail Korb (born March 3, 1980 in Pärnu ) is an Estonian politician. From November 23, 2016 to May 24, 2017, he was Minister of Public Administration of the Republic of Estonia. Korb belongs to the Estonian Center Party (Eesti Keskerakond) .

Life

Mihhail Korb was born in 1980 as the son of the Estonian politician Valeri Korb (* 1954). He graduated from high school in Ahtme in northeast Estonia.

Korb received his Masters in Economics from Tallinn University of Technology in 2008 . From 2010 he also studied energy technology there .

Political activity

From 2001 to 2004 Korb worked for the Kohtla-Järve city ​​administration - then, until 2005, for the administration of the Tallinn district of Mustamäe .

In 2002 he joined the Estonian Center Party. From 2005 to 2011 Korb was mayor of the Kristiine district . From 2011 to 2014 he held the post of mayor of the Tallinn city center .

In June 2014, Mihhail Korb became a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ) as a successor . He was able to defend this mandate in the 2015 general election . Since November 23, 2016 Korb has held the post of Minister for Public Administration of the Republic of Estonia in the cabinet of Prime Minister Jüri Ratas . After controversial statements about Estonia's NATO membership, he had to resign on May 24, 2017. Afterwards he took over his parliamentary mandate, which had rested as minister. He was able to defend this in the 2019 parliamentary election.
