Criticism and accusations

In April 2020, the Armenian State Revenue Committee accused Minasyan of illegally enriching himself, providing false information in his income and property statements and legalizing criminally appropriated property. He was put out to be wanted by court order.

Minasyan has a tense relationship with Nikol Pashinyan , the incumbent Prime Minister of Armenia. Since May 2020, he has been regularly posting videos on his Facebook page accusing the government led by Pashinyan of smuggling (e.g. with diamonds and cigarettes). According to him, Pashinyan included Armenia in the international mafia system. According to Minasjan, the then head of the State Security Service Artur Wanezjan presented an offer on behalf of the Prime Minister to transfer a "symbolic sum of money" to an Armenian foundation. In return, Minasjan would be allowed to “live quietly”. The offer was rejected by Minasjan. Because of these statements, Vanetsyan was summoned to the Special Investigation Committee of Armenia in May 2020 (after he resigned from the post of Director of the State Security Service).

In mid-May, the Special Investigation Committee of Armenia initiated new proceedings against Minasyan for abuse of office. The new allegations relate to the period from 2007 to 2012, when Minasjan was assistant to the prime minister and deputy head of the presidential administration. He denies the allegations made and describes them as politically motivated.
