Gerhard Hübler (born March 7, 1919 ) was a German football player who was active in Leipzig , Halle (Saale) and Dessau in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

In the 1948/49 season, Gerhard Hübler was in the squad of SG Leipzig-Leutzsch, which became ZSG Industrie Leipzig in the course of the season . With this, Hübler was third in the Saxon football championship. This qualified the people of Leipzig for the first season of the DS league, the predecessor of the later GDR league. In the 1949/50 season, Hübler played 17 of the 26 league games for ZSG, in which he was mainly used as a center forward. With 13 goals he was the top scorer of his team. For the 1950/51 season, Hübler moved within the league to the company sports community (BSG) Turbine Halle . There coach Alfred Schulz Hübler changed to a midfielder, but only used him sporadically eleven times in the 34 league games. So Hübler lost his previous goal threat and only got one goal. According to the sources listed below, Hüber played on the 7th match day of the season with league competitor BSG Motor Dessau , who had to replace numerous suspended games, and was used there as a defender. At the beginning of the 1951/52 season, Hübner joined the second-rate GDR league club BSG Einheit Ost Leipzig . Of the 22 league games, he played 16 games mainly as a center forward and scored four goals. After the 17th match day, the 33-year-old was no longer used in the GDR league and then no longer appeared in the higher league area.

Note

  1. Hübler's assignment on September 23, 1951 according to various sources at Motor Dessau is unlikely, as he had previously played two point games for Leipzig. According to Sportecho, he played for the BSG Einheit Ost on this match day.
