Mike O'Rourke

Michael David O'Rourke (born August 21, 1955 in Croydon , Australia ) is a retired New Zealand javelin thrower .

At the Athletics World Cup in 1977 in Düsseldorf, he was sixth. In 1978 he won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton . A second place in the 1979 World Cup and a sixth place in the 1981 World Cup was followed by victory at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 and at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he took part.

In 1990 he was fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Auckland .

Eight times he was New Zealand champion (1976-1982, 1988). In 1981 he was Australian champion, in 1981 and 1983 English champion.
