Mike Wappler

Mike Wappler (* 1955 ; also known as Billion Mike or Ernst-August-Mike Baron von Wappler ) is a German impostor . He is one of the most famous criminals in Germany.

Life

Wappler grew up in Lübeck . He suffers from a reading and writing weakness, but can read numbers and do arithmetic. He attended special school and had only 1 year of schooling. After school he worked as an antique dealer for his father. At the age of around 18 he became a pimp in Hamburg . In prison he completed an apprenticeship as a building cleaner.

In 2001 he founded a model agency in Hamburg. His biography Billions Mike was published in 2013 - I ripped them all off at Dumont Buchverlag. In 2014, he was attacked at home by two unknown perpetrators and shot. He is the father of a son.

Imposture

Wappler cheated on his (mostly wealthy) victims with air deals and mainly sold things such as B. Real estate, jewelry and antiques that either did not exist or were not owned by him.

He was sentenced several times to lengthy prison terms for forgery, fraud and stolen goods; most recently in December 2019 by the Hamburg Regional Court on a prison sentence of several years.

Wappler does not see himself as a fraud, but describes himself as a "story seller". In an interview with the Hamburger Morgenpost in 2013, he also said the words “I'm not a fraud. Because these are the bankers who sell poor old women risky investments. I've only ever ripped off scammers and stole their black money. "
