Mikel Labaka Zurriarain (born August 10, 1980 in Azpeitia , Basque Country ) is a former Spanish football player who played most of his active time at Real Sociedad .

Player career

Beginnings and loan players

Mikel Labaka started his career as a footballer in his Basque homeland at CD Lagun Onak , where he made his debut in the men's team with play in the fourth-class Spanish Tercera Division in 1996/97 . Then it went to the traditional Basque club Real Sociedad . After playing for a short time in the youth of Real Sociedad, he was part of the Basque B team between 1999 and 2002. He was then promoted to the first team, but in the 2002/03 season only awarded to the third division Real Unión Irún , where he immediately had a regular place. Mikel Labaka also spent the following season on loan. This time he was loaned to the second division promoted Ciudad de Murcia . There he was able to assert himself for the first time in professional football.

Time from 2004

In the summer of 2004, the defender returned to the Txuri Urdin , where he was henceforth regularly used. In the 2006/07 relegation season, however, he only made eleven appearances in the Primera División. Nevertheless, he went with his team in the Segunda División . In 2011 he came to Rayo Vallecano after 173 league games and ten goals , where he played as a substitute for two seasons before ending his career as an active player at the end of the 2012/13 season.
