Miklós Istvanffy

Miklós Istvánffy (* 1538 in Kisasszonyfalva ; † 1615 ) was a Hungarian historian .

Istvánffy studied in Bologna and, having returned from there, served from 1562 to 1568 as the secretary of the Primate Miklós Oláh .

After his death he was appointed secretary at the Hungarian court chancellery in Vienna by Emperor Maximilian II and vice-chancellor in 1575. He also had the confidence of Emperor Rudolf II , who appointed him deputy Palatine.

He was also entrusted with several important political broadcasts. Istvánffy immortalized his name in literature through the work Historiarum de rebus hungaricis libri 34 , which was published by Cardinal Péter Pázmány in Cologne in 1622, then published several times and published in Hungarian in 1870.
