kissmiklos (Miklós Kiss / miklɔːʃ kiʃ /; born September 19, 1981 in Dunaújváros , Hungary ) is a Hungarian designer and visual artist who processes elements of graphic design, design, visual arts and architecture.

Career

Kiss graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied graphics, painting and art education from 2000 to 2006. During his studies he exhibited in the Műcsarnok / Kunsthalle in the Ludwig Museum, Budapest , and in the Institute for Contemporary Art, Dunaújváros. After completing his studies, Kiss was invited to the Essl Award exhibition at the Essl Museum in Klosterneuburg , where he received a special award.

Since 2008 Kiss has been working as a visual artist and graphic designer who combines graphics, design and interior architecture in his projects. Most of the works of art by Miklós Kiss explore the boundaries and transitions between art and design and are intended to offer an interaction with the viewer.

Since 2011, Miklós Kiss has been carrying out his guerrilla art campaign Goldenroach with 14 carat gold-plated bronze cockroaches in museums and galleries and making them part of the respective exhibition: Tate Modern, Tate Britain, British Museum, Saatschi Gallery, MUMOK, Hamburger Bahnhof, Center Pompidou, Louvre, MAXXI, Vatican Museums, MOMA and the Venice Biennale. In the first legal exhibition Goldenroach Unlimited in Műcsarnok / Kunsthalle, Budapest, Kiss installed 12,000 gold-plated cockroaches in 2014, along with a 14-carat gold cockroach that was hidden under the plastic insects. The guerrilla art and installation Goldenroach was intended to examine the definition of art in terms of the location and the manner of representation.

Kiss created several public art installations, including Ball.Room , in the Design Terminal, Elisabeth Park, 2016 and Just Decoration Tag Cloud in Mom Park, 2017, Budapest. In 2019 Kiss exhibited his installation Ball.Room with his emograms in the main pavilion of the Gwangju Design Biennale. In 2020 he had his first international solo exhibition at Lotte Gallery Incheon, South Korea .

The extraordinary marriage proposal, which in 2018 was disguised as a guerrilla action in MOMA, was followed by an extraordinary wedding ceremony. The design of the wedding identity was based on the manipulation of some famous classic oil paintings. The faces on these iconic paintings have been exchanged for the portraits of the bride and groom. The pictures were printed in original size on canvas and the wedding started with a real exhibition opening. The wedding identity included invitation cards that resembled invitations to exhibitions and museum postcards, a photo book, and a special edition for wine labels.
