Mikuro-iwa (from Japanese ミ ク ロ 岩 , 'micro rocks' ) is a rocky reef off the Prince Harald coast of Queen Maud Land in East Antarctica . It is located in Kitano-ura Cove on the north side of East Ongul Island in the Flatvær archipelago .
Japanese scientists mapped it using surveys and aerial photographs of the Japanese Antarctic expeditions . You named it descriptively in 1994.
