Miled

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miled also Míl [ mil ] Míl Espáne , Míl Espáine or latinisiert Milesius , is a figure of Celtic mythology of Ireland , with the Goidels eponymous progenitor Goidel glass (from Welsh Gwyddel , "Irish" gwydd , "forest"). Míl Espáne is derived from the Latin miles hispaniae ("soldier from Spain").

In Lebor Gabála Érenn , Miled is considered the ancestor of the Gael , son of Bile (in a different variant as his nephew), grandson of Bregon , and a descendant of Agnomain . He and his sons Éber and Éremón lead the last of the invasions, namely that of the Milesians in Ireland, through which the Túatha Dé Danann lose their power over Ireland and withdraw into the interior of the earth ( Síd ) or on islands across the sea in the Otherworld .
